Cotton Inc. Scholarship Competition - Glacial Lace- Collaboration with Erin Goodman- March 2011
With a strong inspiration from the textures of the arctic landscapes we have developed a cohesive collection of surface designs and created a unique fashion collection utilizing the properties of cotton. The materials were created using 100% cotton voile, a water soluble fabric stabilizer and cotton thread. The simple shape designs of our garments works perfectly with our intricate surface designs. The project included an illustrated process book and an exhibition in Savannah and Hong Kong. Photographed by An Le and Christopher Hench.
MN4MN- Minnesota Fashion week- Show featuring 10 Target Designers- Sept 2014
With much time spent in the southwest United States, my designs gravitate towards the natural red textures of the mesa and the captivating blue skies of New Mexico. This dress is inspired by my time spent there and my love of fibers. I hand-dyed rock textures into silk habotai which was later woven to create the front and back panel of the dress. This dress expresses my process through textile manipulation and color.
